I took command of The Light Cavalry, HAC in 2024 after 28 years of serving with the Honourable Artillery Company. After passing the Special Observers course I joined One Squadron and from there deployed on several Operational tours as well as becoming OC Two Squadron, OC the advance patrols course. It is an honour to now lead The Light Cavalry, a sub unit of the HAC that began its history in 1861.

Andrew Turner CB CBE FRAeS CCMI CMgrSecond in Command
Andrew joined The Light Cavalry in 2024 after 4 decades in the Royal Air Force, flying battlefield helicopters on almost all continents, commanding at every level with staff appointments in Whitehall, the Permanent Joint HQ, the White House and Pentagon. He runs a strategic investment advisory service and is on the Board of space, quantum and advanced material science companies.

Charles GillowRiding Master
Charles joined the Light Cavalry in 2006, following sixteen years’ service in the Royal Air Force, latterly as a test pilot, in investment management in the City and in independent school management. As the Riding Master he runs mounted ceremonial training, standards, and operations, as well as oversight of the personnel, resourcing, finance, and operation of the Light Cavalry’s Stables at Windsor. He leads The Light Cavalry’s support for horse welfare and equine assisted therapy work in UK and Ukraine.

Robert Wilde-EvansAssistant Adjutant
Robert joined The Light Cavalry in 2024, having previously served with the HAC and the Inns of Court & City Yeomanry; he is also currently an officer in the Combined Cadet Force. In the civilian world he is a specialist in military medals and Orders of Chivalry and works for Spink & Son, one of the world's leading specialist auction houses and manufacturers of Orders, Decorations and Medals.

Lee BottSerjeant major
Lee Joined the Light Cavalry in 2016 from the 5th Bn Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. He joined the Army at age 16, was commissioned in 1989 and saw service in Germany, France Belgium and Cyprus, finishing in the rank of Major with the Territorial Decoration. He is The Light Cavalry Serjeant Major in which role he oversees all matters relating to recruits, welfare and dismounted City Troop activity.

Jeff HillQuartermaster
Jeff joined The Light Cavalry in 2010, following a distinguished 28-year career as a reservist that began in 1974 as a paratrooper and commando concluding as a Sergeant Major in 2022. He spent 26 years at BT in field engineering, project management and new business roles. He has worked internationally as a business consultant, 12 years with the NHS as a project support officer and as a relocation manager for various commercial organizations.

Alan WillisTreasurer
Alan joined the Light Cavalry nearly 40 years ago, while Chairman of the HAC Saddle Club and soldiering in the HAC Regiment. He rode as Farrier and was promoted to Officer Commanding in 2014. Alan is a retired banker who, in addition to being LC Treasurer, is the Finance Director of several SMEs. He is a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Bakers.
